HRMC Physicians Clinic Announces Convenient Care Option

January 01, 2025

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has announced it will launch Convenient Care at HRMC Physicians Clinic on Monday, January 6. Designed to meet the unexpected health needs of individuals in the community, HRMC Physicians Clinic Convenient Care will operate from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. Monday-Friday with walk-in care for minor illness and injury.

“The intent of Convenient Care is to provide the type of service our community had available when Quick Care was open and is largely a response to the needs the community voiced through Huron Rising 2.0 surveys and meetings,” said Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC. “Our goal is to be available to our patients when they need us and for many people, that happens to be in the morning after a night of illness, or when a quick test is needed to determine a diagnosis before work or school.” He continued, “We’re hoping to gauge the value of this service to be able to provide limited weekend care at some point as well.”

The new walk-in care model offers convenience for individuals and families to avoid traveling out of town or waiting for the clinic to open to schedule an appointment. Convenient Care patients do not need to be established with an HRMC clinic to take advantage of the service and are asked to walk-in, with no call needed.

“We’ve worked with the other clinics in town to take a step forward in being available to individuals who have symptoms that are too urgent for primary care and don’t require emergency care,” said Jeremy Coss, director of HRMC Clinics. “Our care teams are excited to be part of the solution to quick and reliable care, right here in Huron.”

HRMC Physicians Clinic Convenient Care accepts insurance and will collect co-pays at the time of service. Routine laboratory visits and regular phone scheduling will open at 8:00 a.m. for regular business to ensure Convenient Care patients are prioritized until regular clinic operations begin for the day.

HRMC has cared for the region’s health for over 77 years and is a not-for-profit critical access hospital. The HRMC Physicians Clinic opened in 2014 and has grown from two physicians to over nineteen care providers offering primary care and specialty care including orthopedics, urology, foot and ankle surgery, women’s health and more.
