Dr. Jesse Van Heukelom Earns Board-Certification

Huron, S.D. – Jesse Van Heukelom, MD, a local pediatrician, successfully passed the required examinations and is now board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).
To become board certified, Dr. Jesse passed a written exam to demonstrate that he had obtained the special knowledge and skills required for the medical and surgical care of newborns through adolescents. He is now designated as a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Jesse provides kid-friendly care to children from newborn through adolescents. In addition to seeing patients in his clinic practice, Dr. Jesse is available for care of the newborn after delivery at HRMC, as well as after-hours care of illnesses or accidents in HRMC’s emergency room.
He earned a doctor of medicine degree from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota (USD) in Vermillion, S.D., as well as his bachelors in biology from USD. Dr. Jesse completed his internship and residency in Grand Rapids, Mich., at the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, a free-standing 100-bed children’s hospital with a 120-bed neonatal intensive care unit.
